Pink baby clouds

A while ago a little girl was born into our family, and of course I couldn't resist sewing her a little welcome gift. I simply love sewing for babies. Making them something special feels like a way of acknowledging what a miracle the arrival of a new person really is. 

Another great thing about baby sewing is the little amounts of fabric you need. This ensemble was entirely made out of little scraps of delicous double gauze left over from this dress.

The little dress is the Grace dress, a free pattern. It has a few different views and closes with buttons in the back. The double gauze would have combined well with some lace or embroidery embellishments, but I think I love the simple look even more.

The shoes in size 1 are so tiny that I wasn't sure if I could put them together nicely. It turned out to be no problem, especially with these thin fabrics. The shoes are fully reversible, so should the nani iro not match her outfit of the day, they can be turned into a plain pink pair. The Wayfarer shoes pattern comes in a wide range of sizes up to 9 years old, so my kids are already picking fabrics...

Kiind jumpsuit

Er werd in de familie een nieuw klein mensje geboren. De grote stroom babietjes in onze directe omgeving lijkt wat op te drogen, dus ik greep mijn kans om weer eens een mini-mensen-kleertje te naaien.

Het kereltje is op en top Fries, dus koos ik de kleuren uit de Friese vlag, in een streelzachte biologisch katoenen tricot. Aangezien ik jumpsuits met afstand de fijnste babykleding vind, was de keuze voor het patroon snel gemaakt. Het werd de jumpsuit van Kiind, met 'het ei' voor extra luierruimte.

Het patroon naait lekker vlot weg, als je niet meetelt dat de lockmachine het pakje bijna opat. Dus lieve familie en vrienden: Als jullie nog eens een paar babietjes maken, mag ik nog een paar van deze lekkere pakjes maken ;-)

En nu stort ik me op mijn naaiprojecten voor Kids Clothes Week. Ik was wat ambitieus in mijn planning, hopelijk komt het af deze week... Doet er van jullie ook iemand mee?

For a little newborn family member I sewed a jumpsuit. I chose a soft organic jersey and used this free pattern.

As I loved sewing this, I hope our family and friends will have a few more babies, so I can make a few more ;-)

And now I'm off sewing for Kids Clothes Week. My plans are a bit ambitious, so hopefully I'll get something finished this week... Is anyone else joining?

Cardigan 'In threes'

De kleuren van de nazomer inspireerden me bij het breien van dit peutervestje. Rijpe bramen, pruimen, de laatste goudkleurige bloemen in de tuin. Als basis gebruikte ik het patroon 'In threes', met als toevoeging lange mouwen en wat ajoursteken. Antieke parelmoeren knoopjes maakten het af. Het garen is een heerlijk zachte mohair.

Laat die herfst maar komen!

The colours of the ending summer inspired me when knitting this toddler cardigan. Juicy blackberrys and plums, the last golden flowers in our garden. I started with this pattern, but added long sleeves and some lace stitches. The yarn is a very soft mohair. Vintage pearl buttons finish it off.
